‘NOMAD SHADOW’ nominated at the TALLINN BLACK NIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL
Decription
The film Nomad Shadow, the debut feature by Japanese-American filmmaker Eimi Imanishi and starring Nadhira Mohamed, has participated in major international festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, where it had its world premiere. It now joins the lineup of the 29th edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), a highly prestigious European event that offers the film a new opportunity to reach both audiences and film professionals. The selection represents a new platform for a work that highlights the Sahrawi cause and the tensions of forced migration.
Nomad Shadow, a co-production between Spain, France, and the United States, tells the story of Mariam, a young Sahrawi woman deported from Europe who is forced to return to Western Sahara and, amidst displacement, must fight to regain control over her life.
Nomad Shadow has been met with an extremely positive reception from both critics and audiences. Its visual sensitivity and commitment to a story often silenced have made it one of the revelations of the season. Everything suggests that the film’s journey, still in its early stages, could establish it as one of the strongest voices in contemporary independent cinema.
